reflection part IV

Hi, how's everything guys!
Now I'll write some points that I got from today's meeting.
Let's check this out:
There were 6 presenters who presented their paragraphs this morning, Riza, Via, Aini, Dini, Mega and Nisa.
@Riza. She presented about contrast paragraph. How to know whether the paragraph is type of contrast or comparison paragraph? She explained that contrast paragraph tells about the differences between two objects, while the comparison paragraph about their similarities.
@Via. She presented a paragraph, in her opinion it was an argumentative paragraph, because it tells about the author's
opinion about literature. But Miss.Vita said that in an argumentative paragraph the author should be determine a clear motion, it means that the author have to tell whether she/ he agree or disagree with the issue.
@Aini. She presented about a cause and effect paragraph but it was not really good paragraph, because there is no concluding sentence. Then she presented a good definition paragraph.

@Dini. Her paragraph is process analysis, because it doesn't classify anything. Then the last two presenters presented their paragraphs well.

I think that all for my reflection today.
C U later :)

reflection part III

Hi!
we meet again in my blog :)
very exciting to study with you, guys..
Okay, go to the main purpose, my reflection.
there were some points that I got on yesterday writing course and also on the previous meeting.
  • Previous meeting
We was given assignment by Miss Vita, that is to write a narration paragraph, and we have discussed about it in the class.
Miss Vita divided us into several groups and then Tri Rahma Dina Yanti became my partner. She commented on my paragraph, and so did I. It was interesting :) Dina's paragraph is good. The plot from the beginning until the end of the paragraph's very clear. Good Job, Dina!
I think she can be an author.
  •  Yesterday's meeting
There were 4 persons who presented their paragraph in front of the class yesterday. Putri, Yogi, Okta and me. An Interesting discussion happened yesterday, and there are some points we can conclude.
    @putri's presentation:
She presented about comparative and process analysis paragraph and it was very clear, but Miss Vita said that process analysis paragraph should be in the form of paragraph like the other types.
    @Yogi's presentation:
actually he presented his paragraph well, because he was really confident.
important point: you may not modify paragraph, because each paragraph on an article, text, essay, has their own main idea.
@my presentation: illustration paragraph give detail about a topic, but it not really specific, and usually give example. then descriptive paragraph is clearer and give more detail about a topic to the reader so they can imagine it.
@Okta's presentation: we may not take the whole sentence to make it as topic sentence, we can make it by our own words..
okay, I think that all.
wish we can be better :)

reflection part II

Konnichiwa J
Okay, to the point, I would write some reflection about today’s lesson. It is still about paragraph.
We know that we have identified some paragraphs based on their types, and we discussed in the class with our lecturer, Miss Vita.
There are some points that I got on today’s lesson refers on our three friends presentation,
First, Iswatin’s presentation: We can not take just a paragraph from an essay or article to know what kind of paragraph it is, because usually there is relation between the first paragraph until the last paragraph.
Second, Dina’s presentation: do not judge a book just by its cover! Perhaps this statement also occurs for paragraph. Do not judge the type of paragraph just based on one characteristic, it can be just an imposture. We almost fooled with Dina’s paragraph, just because in her paragraph there is words “first, second, etc”. Whereas that we must underline is types of paragraph is depend on purposes of the paragraph itself.
Third, Lalang’s presentation: what we will discuss in a “cause and effect” paragraph should be covered in the first sentence, as the topic sentence.
Then if the paragraph tells us about an accident which has chronological event it could be a report. Report, recount, spoof, etc, is kinds of narrative paragraphs.

One question that makes me still confused, are all paragraphs include into one of types of the paragraph?? Or there are paragraph that not include in any types of the paragraph??

wanna help me??

reflection part I

I have read some materials that have been offered by Ms. Vita for our class. It's about paragraph.
what did I learn? Let's check this out ..

  • The meaning of paragraph
A paragraph is a group of sentence that convey an Idea. Main idea show what is the text is about, so it is covering the whole text, essay, or article. Main idea is placed on the beggining of the sentence, which called Topic Sentence. Then after a topic sentence usually followed by supporting sentences that have relation between each other in order to support, describe and explain the main idea.
  • Characteristics of paragraphHere are some characteristics of a good paragraph:
first, have a topic sentence as a main point of a paragraph.
second, have supporting sentences with details and spesifics explanation to make tour main poin mora clear.
third, coherent or have relation between one and other sentences.
fourth, have a concluding idea which is stated in the end of the paragraph.
  • Types of paragraph
In English Language there are seven types of paragraph, they are:
    1. Narration. Normally this type of paragraph is chronological, but sometimes it uses flashback mode.
    2. exposition.
    3. definition
    4. description.
    5. process analysis
    6. persuasion
